Amy Clipston has become an author that I search for in the “New Releases.” I absolutely love her stories and her style of writing. Her books always have beautiful covers that draw me into picking up her books.
The Beloved Hope Chest is a beautiful end to the Amish Heirloom Series. Mattie has held a deep secret close to her heart for years. Now it’s time for her to tell her story. Her girls get the full story as they dive into their mom’s hope chest. They pull out items, waiting for the story to unfold. Each piece placed into the chest was purposeful and holds a memory, some painful and some joyful. It’s a story that the girls haven’t heard before, but one Mattie risks telling, hoping that they don’t change their opinion of her and her husband.
What I love most about this beauty from ashes story is the healing process that takes place right before our eyes. It’s not always easy to tell our secrets that we hold closest to our hearts, but there is freedom in releasing it to someone trustworty. In this case, Mattie’s children were were honored to be in that role. There’s also so much healing that comes from sharing our story with others. In this case, there was healing from her daughters as they realize the secret that was withheld them for so long. There was complete restoration in a relationship with nothing held back. But there was also healing with Mattie as she retells her story.
I was gripped by this story and couldn’t help but give one giant sigh at the end of this book. It was definitely one of my favorites by Amy Clipston, for sure!
I received this book free from Zondervan in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.
