Jen Wilkin is one of my favorite authors and Bible study teachers. She has such an honest and transparent way about her that I want to exhibit in my own life. I admire her relationship with Jesus and her deep desire to know God’s Word and to disciple women to know and love Him with their whole heart, soul, and mind.
None Like Him sets out to show readers the 10 ways that God is different from us. I’ll admit that at first, I was sort of thinking “well, of course, everyone knows that!” As someone who grew up in church, I wasn’t expecting anything overwhelmingly new. However, what I didn’t expect was to fall more in love with Jesus and long to dive into His Word.
I love a book that makes me love Jesus more and makes me want to pull out my Bible and read the very words for myself. It made me look forward even more so to my quiet times.
None Like Him focuses on the character of God, who He is. It takes the reader deeper into understanding who God is and we are not.
The end of each chapter have questions that are wonderful to use while you journal your thoughts during your quiet times. I don’t usually use the questions because I like to keep reading, but I made myself answer them this time. It has a verse to meditate on or memorize.
As I was reading through this book, I could easily see it being used in several different ways. You can definitely read it alone as a book, but it would be a great Bible study book to personally use. I also think it would be a great book club book or even a small group Bible study. There aren’t a lot of Bible studies that focus solely on who God is and leave you with the desire to know God more deeply. What freedom we have when we know who we are and who God is.
I received this book free from Crossway in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.
